Job _title_ : Section/Team Manager Type : Permanent Salary : £65,000 Location : South De_script_ion : The Role: Ultimately responsible for getting product to market within agreed quality and time parameters. To manage, motivate, control and oversee the recruitment and professional development of all group employees. To provide feedback to the appropriate Development Manager in a timely manner on all activities being undertaken by the group, together with an assessment of the impact of any deviations and recommendations for remedial action. To assist in the implementation of the Company’s commercial strategy affecting the product range and to work closely with colleagues as necessary in the achievement of these _object_ives. The Person: Qualifications: Likely to be an ex-Programmer/Software Engineer or of equivalent intellectual IT standard, highly articulate, numerate, commercially astute and politically aware. Education to degree level in Computing or a related discipline is required. Some experience of ‘C’ Unix, Delphi or Oracle would be an advantage. Currently occupying a similar role within a Software development environment and have gained a minimum of three years’ experience in managing a multi-disciplinary development function of 20+ people. Have had previous involvement in all aspects of the development life cycle, from initial analysis and design to implementation, testing and documentation. Additional Skills: Ability to develop personnel, resolve resource issues and improve development processes. Be a ‘doer’ and problem solver rather than an identifier or originator of problems. Have proven expertise in delivering high-quality product, on time and on budget. Understand how to encourage creativity and innovation whilst helping to keep one’s team on target towards the achievement of set goals and _object_ives. Possess an instinctive understanding of how to organise teams to achieve aggressive goals and _object_ives. Be a confident and effective communicator, with the ability to convey information to both senior management and junior team members, regardless of their level of technical expertise. As well as being enthusiastic, energetic, and self-motivated by nature, be detail-conscious, team-orientated and self-disciplined.
