I do see where you are coming from Chris believe it or not, but I see things in a little different way....its the way we are Actually, I don't think we're all that terribly far apart, ideologically. I do think that you're misreading the meaning of my posts sometimes, though. Chris

opinion about it can't be wrong! The facts about it can be right or wrong...the opinion of how you believe it should be is not Lori

Christopher < This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it wrote in message Darryl Harding < This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it wrote in message <snip And by the way, not everyone would rather be alive in a cell for the rest of their lives. Some criminals actually think of that as punishment and long to be on the outside, believe it or not. Then perhaps they should think about that before they COMMIT the crime...just a thought But hey if you don't beleive me, volunteer with a program like http://writeaprisoner.com/. Get a view from some of the actual lifers about how much of a free ride they think they've got, instead of just your own opinion. Again, if they do the crime they do the time....if it is soooo bad then they shouldn't do the crime...they need to grow up and take responsibility for their actions I never want to go to jail or be on death row so beside the obvious reasons of it being wrong and not in my nature, I do NOT do the crimes...if I did, then of course I wouldn't like it, and most likely bitch about it, but I would be stupid not to think there would be punishment for it. Expose yourself to some new info! Stop being afraid that looking something up and learning something new that might challenge your beliefs is a bad thing! <snip mu position is that those that commit capitl crimes should be dealt with by capitla punishment You say that but yet you refuse to try and prove me wrong that (1) it doesn't deter other murders Prove other than government surveys which say what suits them best that is doesn't deter other murders?...I know the government can do many sneaky things but I would like to think they still haven't learned how to get into EVERYONE's brain to know if they were detered from doing capital crime...how do you measure something like that?...invite everyone that sees death penalties being carried out to come forward and admit it stopped them from committing murder?...good luck with that (2) it doesn't save taxpayers money it doesn't?? Hmmm I suck at my own money management but have been taught to pay off my bills so I no longer have to make payments, if you have finished paying for something and are not incurring anymore expenses on it, does that not mean you are saving the money you were once spending???  If a convicted criminal faces the death penalty instead of life in prison I would think that once it was carried out they would be no longer forking out the money for their provisions, therefore it could be saved for other uses.  I believe your argument previously was something along the lines of death row prisoners still cost the taxpayers due to their use of appointed counsels for appeals etc...yes that would make perfect sense since criminals are en_title_d to those benefits, but appeals only go so far...yes they can be held up for years but the sentence does get carried out and the costs end...so the 'savings' may take time to show but they do eventually...I won't claim to know the costs of these appointed cousel, I know they are outrageous in a lot of cases, but so are the costs of medical/dental coverage, education, food, rent and all the other 'goodies' provided each and every day...so when reading those statistics think about how they can claim it saves no money.. just my interpretation...I guess I get for lack of a better word 'passionate' about that subject because I am one of the many people that try to work hard to get things necessary to survive and can't stand to see criminals gettin things they shouldn't deserve on those terms...they choose to give up their freedoms when they commit crimes...a lot of us got caught in the government cutbacks on jobs thru no choice of our own, and when we try hard to recover, face brick walls a lot of the time...I worked hard for 11 years at my job and took pride in it...it was not my decision to cut jobs...fact of life it seems these days and I know I just have to deal with it....when I turned to the programs in place that are supposed to be there to help, I faced more brick walls than I dreamed of...it is extremely frustrating as a single mother to be told sorry you only qualify for less than $700 a month for you and your child to pay just the basic necessities, which btw does not cover the rent, power, water, heat and food...then try everything in your power to upgrade yourself so you can again contribute to society only to be told your not eligible...it is frustrating as h*ll to know that for years you paid taxes that provided all the things you are trying to get with hard work to a person who committed a crime, yet you are not eligible!  And knowing that there are people in worse situations than I am does not make the frustration any less...so yes, I do share the belief that criminals should not be given that 'free ride' when they CHOOSE to break the law...perhaps if instead of coping out and committing crimes they worked at finding a better solution, everyone's tax dollars could be spent on programs designed to help the people who aren't 'eligible', that WANT to contribute positively to society instead of sittin back and lettin someone else take care of them... (3) It actually results in more innocent deaths. Dealing with those who commit capital crimes by capital punishment doesn't solve any of these problems. I don't understand the use of the word innocent there...carrying out a death sentence on a convicted capital criminal is causing an 'innocent' death??..I don't consider a murderer 'innocent'....they choose to carry out their actions, they just don't want to face the consequences.  The death of a convicted murderer is not an innocent death.  If you are referring to people wrongly convicted dying then yes that is something I hate too...its is not the solution I know but just a thought...perhaps if the governments were not supporting so many capital criminals for the rest of their lives, the savings could be used to improve the system in some way...as well though I don't know a lot about these things, there are probably a few laws that need changing that would help truly innocent people prove it....Anyway I am gonna shup now...didn't mean to go on so long...I do see where you are coming from Chris believe it or not, but I see things in a little different way....its the way we are Lori

Again, if you don't know the difference between mass/serial kilers and the type of murderer most commonly incarcerated, look it up, speak to a psychologist, whatever. The more you keep pushing this point, the more uninformed you're making yourself look. murder is a capital crime, in my opinion, a merder is a murder is a murder.....if you take anopther life in cold blood then you should be subjested to capital punishment... that is it...end of story....you just simply cannot have it both wyas.....you advocate imprisonment for capital offenders, that is fine, it is your opinion, ...i have my opinion, i advocate capital punishment....you can beat this to death, chris...i will not cahnge my mind simply becasue you want me to ...and that doesnt make me wrong.....you gotta stop this , you will have a heart attack.....we have differing opinions....simple .as that.....live with it......... And by the way, not everyone would rather be alive in a cell for the rest of their lives. Some criminals actually think of that as punishment and long to be on the outside, believe it or not. given the choice or life or death, you think they want death??...i say good.......... give it to them...in fact i say dont give them a choice...a capital offender should be subjected to capital punishment...that is my opinion chris, i stand by it just as you stand by your opinion that cold blooded murders should be given free room and board, free food, free clothing, free education, free medical and dental coverage and free vision care......fine, pay for it with your dime....mine will go towards the public lethal injection for capital offenders...... remeber chris, capital punishment means zero re-offending.........zero -reoffending is a factual outcome of capital punishment Mike's had a great point with the number of hockey posts you've made saying that the numbers don't lie, and yet you won't even try to touch them in this thread, you just keep hiding behind Opinions can never be wrong . an opinion is just an opinion chris, it is not a right or wrong thing, ii think that capital offeenders that kill in cold blood should be dealkt with by capital punsihment.......that is my opinion....i stick by it....just lie your opin is...that cold blooded murders should be given free room and board, free food, free clothing, free education, free medical and dental coverage and free vision care....i just do not agree with your opinion, but that doenst mean it is wrong...it is the way you feel, and i wont and am not trying to change your mind, you are trying to cram your opinion down my throat , and it simply will not work...so you just as well should move along....it simply will not happen.... And because no system is perfect, I'd rather see Randy Druken and Greg Parsons walking the streets than having been executed for a crime they didn't commit. The system is not perfect. And until we can say it is, innocent people risk being convicted. Ok, compare US states to US states - same nationality, same social problems, same scale. And consistently, the states without a death penalty have a lower crime rate. Simple fact. i dont care about the laws of the us..i care about our laws and my positon is still the same as always, i think that capital offeenders that kill in cold blood should be dealkt with by capital punsihment.......that is my opinion....i stick by it....just lie your opin is...that cold blooded murders should be given free room and board, free food, free clothing, free education, free medical and dental coverage and free vision care...i could care less about the united states...... You say that but yet you refuse to try and prove me wrong i am not saying that you are wrong, i am saying that i do not share your opinion as i have my own......dont you get it??? hahaha  an opinion is simply an opinion...it is neither right or wrong for anyone other than the person that has it....my opinion. yet again...is.....i think that capital offeenders that kill in cold blood should be dealkt with by capital punsihment.......that is my opinion....i stick by it....just like your opinion is...that cold blooded murders should be given free room and board, free food, free clothing, free education, free medical and dental coverage and free vision care.... while we may not agree, neither of us is right or wrong.....you gotta stop trying to force your opinion on me...i accept that we have differing opinions, that is fine....have a great weekend Darryl
