Boards.  Attics, resale, use, trash.  Wetsuits.  Same thing, less attic. Ever bought a hot board?  Ever been sitting on one when someone recognized it?  Ever reglassed a board?  Is it worth the trouble?  Is it possible to _embed_ text in the glass like the id strips in new USA cash?  That would force a complete reglassing. Do people travel to steal stuff?  Do they travel to sell it? How far before it isn't worth the hassle?  Would it pay to organize? Ever sat around drinking beers illegally and said hey look, free stuff! ?

On our trip to San Diego for the Memorail Day weekend my son bought an 8'0 square tail speed egg shaped by Mike Smith in PB. The board is set up with a standard thruster fin configuration. After our Saturday PM session we were comparing his new board to my 9'6 Frye. He aked the question, I could use the same trifin setup on my board and how would it effect the turning, speed, etc.  I had to say I dunno . (tough words for a Dad who should know all) So what do ya'all think, is the finning of a board an option like lenght or color, or is the overall design of the board, i.e. rails, rocker, etc. a component in the fin selection. How do you think my board would turn with his thruster set up. Its 9'6 x 16 x 22 x 14 1/2 , slight rocker, round tail, hard rails at the tail/flat bottom going into softer rails with a bit of belly toward the center/front. While I'm throwing out questions,  what effect would a smaller fin have when used in my current single fin set up? Not alot of folks to post these questions to here what with all the golf and calf roping goin' on. We scored alot of really fun waves on the trip, the PM winds ran paralell/slight off shore and gave us great beach break wedges with an occational 5' set in front of San Gabriel Court. Tourmaline in the AM was fun but not as good as the PM sessions right in the front yard. We cancelled the drive Friday afternoon (6/6) to go over for the Tourmaline Summer Longboard Classic due to crummy weather crossing the desert and a poor surf forecast. Hope it a great summer. Ever bought a hot board?  Ever been sitting on one when someone recognized it? No, but saw an admittedly hot one a few months back, a 5'6 Channel Islands that used to be some grom's board and now this old guy was using as a kneeboard.  All the stickers were just painted over in blue.

: While I'm throwing out questions,  what effect would a smaller fin have : when used in my current single fin set up? : : I just got an 8 raked-back fin to replace the 6 cutaway that : used to be in my 9'2 .  Made a world of difference; the board : isn't anywhere near as squirrelly off the tail and doesn't have : the wobble it used to have when forward on the sweet spot.  It : also has two small side fins but they don't strike me as particularly : important; I'm actually thinking of popping them out. : Cutaways suck.......they don't promote smoothness in your turns (isn't that whole idea with riding a longboard, the smooth glide.......they should kept 'em in the sailboard industry.  You'll have better noserides now. Lose the side fins, they just slow you down.  1 fin, 1 God, 1 country.

Being a high aspect type, I've always favored lift and power at speed to low end torque at slow speeds that low aspect provides. But then again its up to the individual to investigate the truths as you see fit. Do I have my terminology straight? Thanks, G

;- Johnny (Off in the distance, a little voice can be heard: Mommy - he's at it again! Now, Johnny - what have we told you about stirring up the hornets nest?!  It won't be long until those hornets come buzzing around all pissed off.  Well, young man what do you have to say for yourself? Ahh, gee Dad - I was just having a little fun.  They're always so fun to see them buzzing around - it's like they have a mission or something... Fade to black...)

Newsflash

Norwegian Minister of Justice did not sit at home and dived in the waters of the Arctic. I must admit that bad for the minister!
